&rmi> The knights of Bretonnia are feared and respected throughout the world. Men of valour and honour, they are exceptional warriors and guardians of their land that was founded upon the most heroic of ideals. In the name of the Lady of the Lake and for the glory of Dukes and King they sweep aside evil on the field of battle, for none can stand against their glorious charge.... so they believe. Yet, the tragic truth is far darker than the legends they cling to. These once noble knights have been twisted by a horrific curse, their bodies transformed into ghastly, flesh-hungry ghouls. They are trapped in a nightmarish delusion, believing themselves to be virtuous warriors of old. In their corrupted minds, the gnawed bones of the innocent are grand banquets, and the blood-stained ruins they inhabit are majestic castles. Led by monstrous kings they see as noble lords, these deluded wretches continue to fight in the name of Bretonnia, never realizing that the glory they seek has long since crumbled into the dust of madness and decay, as they are now the Flesh Eater Courts.
<@oregtana, Jfap Cncljantreste Through the ages, Neferata, the insidious mistress of darkness, has woven plots in the shadows of noble courts. By deploying her Lahmian vampires to seduce and manipulate nobles from various kingdoms, she has skilfully and discreetly infiltrated the upper echelons of society. This time, Neferata has sent one of her young and most ambitious servants on a more sinister mission, aiming to transform the realms of the living into a kingdom of ghouls enslaved to her evil design by making them consume the corrupted blood of Ushoran. Among her sisters, she now carries the name of Goregiana the Fay. Bathed in an aura of magic and illusion, she appears to the mightiest of Bretonnian knights as the very embodiment of the Fay Enchantress: beautiful, radiant, pure, and riding her unicorn, Silvaron. Under the veil of enchantments, she offers them a corrupted Grail, a mystical chalice infused with Ushoran's blood, leading the bewitched knights to their doom, turning them into monsters. She guides the deluded Flesh Eaters Courts roaming in the realms of Bretonnia and she will not stop until the entire Kingdom has fallen, in the name of the only Lady, Mortarch of Blood - Queen Neferata. The Fav Enchantress bestows the Blessing of the Ladv on an armv departing for war.
Heoncoeur If you were to inquire, he would gallantly declare his regal title, Louen Leoncoeur the Lion-hearted, king of the most honorable kingdom of men, pinnacle of knightly perfection and honour. Master of tactics and strategy, he has never known defeat. Riding into battle on Beaquis, his loyal Hypogryph, descending from the heavens onto his enemies, a symbol of divine retribution. He is blessed above all other mortals by the lady of the lake and some whisper he has even been granted a kiss. Leading the crusade, magical power of the Grail flowing in his veins, light from the realm of life streaming out from any wound inflicted to him until he is healed over once more. His heart ablaze with the mission to purge his land from the clutches of invaders, all in the sacred name of the Lady. Some would say he once was one of the mightiest king of men, who unified the kingdom of Bretonnia. But when facing the end of time, his kingdom descended into a tragic madness, feasting on everything that lives. Blinded by the hope to save his realm, the king indulged in the forbidden elixir of the Blood Grail, transforming into a cannibal monstrosity. In a horrifying act, he devoured his Hypogryph and fashioned a grotesque cape from its remains. Riding into battle atop a monstrous Terrorgheist, darkness from the realm of death streaming out from any wound inflicted to him, he embodies the twisted legacy of a once-heroic ruler who had the strength and the will of a lion. Others assert that this narrative of a fallen king is but a macabre fabrication, nothing more than the delusion of great deeds and grand tales of an atrociously twisted Ghoul King. If his origin remains elusive, the only sure thing is - in the name of all that lives, he must be stopped.
Œije <ë>vzzn kntgfjt The Green Knight is the champion of the Lady of the Lake and protector of the sacred sites of Bretonnia. As well as materializing to test Questing Knights in their faith, the Green Knight will appear when these sacred places are defiled by those with evil-hearted intent. He bursts from within the bole of the most ancient trees, or gallops furiously from still lakes or rushing waterfalls to wreak his terrible vengeance against those interlopers. As quickly as he appears, so too will he fade into mist once his righteous slaughter is complete. In truth, the “Green Knight” is a vampire from the Strigoi bloodline, a wretched creature driven by an insatiable hunger and ancient, warped pride. This monstrous being, once a proud knight, has been corrupted by dark magic and bound to the will of Goregiana. Riding a fearsome Varghulf Courtier, the so-called Green Knight serves as the Enchantress's unholy champion. He bursts from within the bole of dead trees or filthy crevasses, bringing doom to any who dare trespass upon the sacred places. The Green knight bursts forth from the depths of a sacred wood to confront Beastmen despoilers
Amongst the Knights of Bretonnia, the Grail knights are legendary, living saints blessed by the power of the Lady and near unstoppable on the charge. In truth, the delusion hides nothing more than ghouls strong and loyal enough to their master to be given a sip of pure vampire blood, turning them into Crypt Horrors. Like Grail Knights, the Crypt Horrors are capable of great deeds, able to smash through fort gates, slay monsters, or annihilate the bravest of heroes. Questing knights are proven warriors seeking to follow the example of Grail Knights, giving up their traditional lance in favour of the weapons of the Quest. As ghouls, they are still striving to prove their valour in hope of one day “ascending as Grail Knights”.
MI: ^egasiusi Untgljtsi Some among the Knights of the Realm are borne to battle on a flying steed, the Pegasus, allowing them to soar above the battlefields to attack the vulnerable flank and rear of the foe. Many lords maintain stables of proud and noble Pegasi, while others boast of fearsome Draconith steeds, or claim to have mastered even stranger heraldic beasts. These all make fine mounts for the Morbheg Knights.
Rattle ^Pilgrims anti tIje #ratl Reliquae Wherever the Grail Knights travel, they gather a trail of fanatical worshippers whose only goal in life is to bask in the reflected glory of these mighty individuals. To the pilgrims, the Reliquae is the ultimate icon of their devotion to both the Lady of the Lake and her knights - mobile shrines from which the chosen amongst them can preach their creed. These deranged ghouls have been twisted by their obsession and driven to madness far beyond the usual horrors of their kind. The Reliquae, which they believe to be a holy symbol of the Lady of the Lake, is likely the desecrated corpse of a once-noble real Grail Knight. They carry it into battle like a grotesque, mobile shrine, convinced that it grants them the blessing of the Lady and the strength to continue their wretched existence. These ghouls, utterly consumed by their delusions, are perhaps the most pitiful and terrifying of all, as they cling to vestiges of a faith that has long since turned to rot. Inspired by the relics of a long-dead Grail Knight, a lone band of Battle Pilgrims prepare to defend an isolated settlement. ’ —ri? ** . * -»v
jilen at &rm£ Each midsummer, commoners flock to their lord’s castle to present their sons in the hope that they will be trained as men-at-arms. For a peasant to have a son accepted into the ranks of a knight’s household is a great honour. Some young peasants will have been guided towards this goal through their entire life, encouraged to stand up straighter and taller than the usual peasant “slouch” to better improve their chances of selection. As ghouls, the cryptguards demonstrate an uncommon tenacity and worth. Charged with protecting their vampiric masters, these faithful mordants wield weapons gifted from the royal armoury - rusted, gore-caked blades and broken shields harbouring the armoury of their lord.
